LONDON—Less than two weeks before its scheduled inaugural debut, the organizers of the first edition of The Eye Show here have confirmed that the show is now canceled.

The show was to have been held Feb. 12 to 14 at the ExCel Exhibition Centre. More than 100 optical companies had signed up for the show, which was to have included exhibition space and conference events.

In a statement posted on the show’s website today, Dawn Kime, event director, stated, “It is with deep regret that I inform you that The Eye Show 2013 has been canceled. I’m devastated that this will have caused inconvenience and cost to the exhibitors, speakers and visitors who have pre-registered to attend, and the people who have supported The Eye Show. I really have tried everything I can to resolve the matter.”

The statement added, “A Receiver has been appointed this morning and the details are: Stephen Grant, Wilkins Kennedy, Tel: 01494 545570.”
