The Gala, sponsored by the Optometric Center of New York, the foundation of the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry, will be held March 18 at Cipriani 42nd Street, in Manhattan, during the weekend of Vision Expo East.

This year’s event will mark the 55th Anniversary of the foundation and the 40th Anniversary of the College. The College includes the University Eye Center, one of the largest vision care facilities in the country and the Graduate Center for Vision Research. “We are delighted to have such distinguished honorees for our anniversary celebration,” said Dr. David A. Heath, the College’s president. “Our institution and its foundation have had long and distinguished histories of service. We can think of no finer way to mark the occasion than to pay tribute to the contributions of our guests of honor.”

According to Ann Warwick, the foundation’s Executive Director, this annual event supports the foundation’s community outreach programs such as vision care for the homebound elderly and indigent, scholarships and vision science research.

Serving as co-chairs for the event, are Michael Daley, president of the Foundation for Eye Health Awareness and Rob Lynch, president and CEO of VSP Global.
