RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif.—VSP Global announced yesterday that Darryl Lemecha has been named chief technology officer (CTO) of VSP Global. Lemecha, who most recently served as chief operating officer of Eyefinity, a VSP Global division, succeeds former VSP Global Jim McGrann in the role. McGrann will now focus solely on his role as president of VSP Vision Care.

“A strong technological foundation powers the companies of VSP Global, enabling us to create programs, products and services that meet the needs of independent eyecare professionals as well as those of the companies and individuals that purchase our insurance plans,” said VSP Global CEO Rob Lynch. “Darryl’s more than two decades in technology leadership roles have equipped him to meet the challenges of a global organization that must remain agile and integrated.”

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Canada, Lemecha has a Bachelor of Science in computer science from the University of Manitoba. Before entering the optical industry with Eyefinity in May 2011, he was an award-winning senior technology leader in a range of industries—from financial services to retail organizations. Lemecha’s past accolades include being named one of Computerworld's Premier 100 IT Leaders, recognition as CIO of the Year by CIO Canada Magazine, and two-time finalist for the Georgia CIO of the Year, the company said.

“The optical industry and market expectations are evolving rapidly,” said Lemecha. “I’m excited to lead VSP Global in the application of innovative technologies that enable our businesses to accelerate speed to market and, in turn, help independent eyecare professionals respond to the shifting needs of their patients. We’ll focus on delivering leading-edge solutions that optimize processes across VSP Global lines of business to enhance the customer experience and advance the industry.”
