SynergEyes and Insight Your Vision Source Team Up On Sharing Vision Grant Program
ATLANTA— This summer, Denise Filmore received the life-changing gift of clear and comfortable vision thanks to the Sharing Vision Grant Program sponsored by SynergEyes, Inc. and Dr. David Sweeney at Insight Your Vision Source. The program was created to bring the new, technologically advanced ClearKone(R) hybrid contact lens to irregular cornea patients who may otherwise not have access.
For the past three years, Denise Filmore’s poor vision has made it difficult for her to homeschool her special needs son and perform her job as a tax preparer. “Keratoconus not only impacts my life, but my son’s life as well,” she said. “I worry that I may not be able to support my household on my own or give my son the special attention he needs if I cannot find a way to correct my vision,” said Filmore a single mother without vision insurance.
As part of the Sharing Vision Grant Program, SynergEyes partnered with Dr. Sweeney to provide Filmore with a free professional contact lens fitting and a free pair of ClearKone lenses. Filmore is now able to see clearly and comfortably for the first time in years and can support her family and care for her son’s special needs. According to SynergEyes, approximately 1 in 1,000 people have irregular cornea conditions that cause substantially distorted vision and dramatically changes their quality of life.
SynergEyes, Inc., headquartered in Carlsbad, Calif., is the only company that manufactures a hybrid contact lens which has a “hard” center for crisp, clear vision, and a soft outer skirt that provides comfort and all-day wearability. The ClearKone hybrid contact lens is the only hybrid lens of its kind for irregular cornea patients and is having a positive impact on thousands of people throughout the world who suffer from corneal dystrophies.
Dr. David Sweeney practices with his wife, Dr. Rachael Sweeney and they have demonstrated their commitment to the improvement of the quality of life in their community by being named 2011 Prevent Blindness Ga. Volunteers of the Year.
