RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif.—Eyefinity/OfficeMate, part of VSP Global, confirmed to VMail the purchase of AcuityLogic earlier this year.

Founded in 2006, based in Livonia, Mich., AcuityLogic offers a practice management and point-of-sale (POS) solution for single location and multi-location eyecare practices, available in an enterprise and software-as-a-service (SaaS) architecture, which gives users easy access to the system through the internet, instead of a traditional client server.

The company’s former owners, Sam Nasser and Digesh Sahu, remain in their senior management roles with AcuityLogic and report to Ed Buffington, chief operating officer for Eyefinity/OfficeMate. The acquisition took place in July.

Steve Baker, president of Eyefinity/OfficeMate, told VMail, "Through the acquisition of AcuityLogic, Eyefinity/OfficeMate made a strategic asset purchase that moves the company toward cloud computing for our next generation products and services. Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platforms provide unique business benefits to our customers, and this acquisition gives us the ability to remain the leader in a competitive market and allows us to continue providing the eyecare professionals we serve with cutting edge business solutions and technology."

AcuityLogic’s product suite offers eyecare professionals an intuitive, integrated system that supports patient communications, billing and claims, point of sale needs, business analysis, lab orders and inventory management, a spokesperson for Eyefinity/OfficeMate said, adding, “No immediate product integration is planned, but Eyefinity/OfficeMate will be evaluating product and architecture integration opportunities to prepare for a release of a next-generation product suite in the future.”

AcuityLogic will continue providing service and support to its current clients as well as continue selling its existing products, the company said.
