ABO-NCLE Conference to Host Other Optical Associations’ Events and Offer 100 Hours of Education

ARLINGTON, Va.—In addition to offering over 100 hours of education, the 2012 ABO-NCLE National Opticians Conference, will once again host a number of events sponsored by other optical organizations. The fifth annual joint conference of the American Board of Optometry (ABO) and the National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLE) will be held at the Crystal Gateway Marriott Hotel, Nov. 1 to 4. This will also be the location of the Opticians Association of America Annual Convention, the National Academy of Opticianry’s Membership and Award Ceremony, the National Federation of Opticianry Schools College Bowl and the Contact Lens Society of America Fall Symposium. Industry products and services will be on display Friday Nov. 2 and Saturday Nov. 3 during the Optical Exhibit Showcase.

The 100 hours of approved education will include a hands-on track and sessions focused on spectacle lenses, contact lenses and business. Review classes for both the ABO and NCLE basic and advanced certification exams will also be presented, with the corresponding exams offered on-site on Sunday, Nov. 4. Education partners for the conference are the National Academy of Optometry, the Opticians Association of America, the Contact Lens Society of America, the National Federation of Optometry Schools, the National Commission of State Opticianry Regulatory Boards and the Optical Women’s Association.
